I just thought this was a cool article about the Hollywood slump that really cuts through the bs and presents, as far as I'm concerned, the main problem why big budget films are biting it. moneycentral.msn.com/content/P118106.asp

All the kids are playing games on the PS2. Hollywood isn't making kids movies, so they aren't into going to the movies any more. When they grow up, they want to play bigger and better games. Ran a DVD night for the kids last weekend, and they all disappeared into one of the bedrooms to play video-games. The only good kids film made last year was"Saw". (just kidding) If Hollywood doesn't want to train its future audiences into going to the pics, then it can't complain if the box office dries up. Make more films for kids, Real films, not animation. (The stuff kids watch on TV while Mum's ordering pizza for tea.) Narnia was sort of OK, but XMen3 bombed.
