Hey all,
I started a film production company, which, according to Dov Simens, means I can now declare myself an independent film producer! Truth is I'm working towards getting my first film financed. I've written a script (though the tinkering process has not quite ended) and I'm putting together a business plan, which is not exactly an area of strength for me.
I've come here for some assistance on specific bits of information to put in my prospectus. Specifically, information on the budgets and eventual net sales of successful horror films. The Blair Witch Project is an obvious example I intend to use, but a few other examples, even ones that are not well known, but still made money. This information, incidentally, would be beneficial to anyone else planning to use the Dov Simens playbook to using OPM (other people's money) to finance a film, so this isn't just for me!
Also, what would be great is a quote by a well known figure in the film industry... a recognizable name... talking about the advantages of venturing into low budget horror film making form a business perspective. Something along the lines of: "Horror films are the easiest way to make money on movies" - The Man. Something to that effect.
Thanks and good luck all!
