Hello everyone! My name is Dustin, and I Direct REALLY low budget horror films. I started the online "fanedit" label "Retro Horror Remix" and the site is here: www.freewebs.com/retrohorrorremix/
I have been releasing "fanedits" of obscure horror films to the online community since 2005. I cut out the padding and "boring" parts (a major problem with low budget horror of the 70's and 80's) and release new, vamped up versions for FREE through the site on the condition that you own a physical copy of the original film.
In 2007 I Directed my first short film: "SCALPS 2: The Return of D.J.", also (with ALL of my Directed films) released for FREE on my site. It was a 25 minute "fan sequel" to Fred Olen Ray's 1984 classic "Scalps". After a somewhat favorable response, I directed my second short film, "Horror House". An 80's style slasher film with a Killer in a Nixon mask. The film was inspired by the low budget cult films "Horror House On Highway 5", "Tourist Trap" and "The Town That Dreaded Sundown" to name a few. "Horror House" gained a bit of a cult following, so I soon created a sequel that took the story in a new Direction. More of an early 70's "potboiler" style ala "Don't Look In The Basement" and "Asylum of Satan". It was titled "Return To Horror House". It was an even bigger film, over twice as long, and the locals here just ate it up when it played at an old vintage theater. That film is available for FREE through the site or you can buy a physical copy for $9.99 that's autographed. I also recently "re-edited" "Horror House" and "Return To Horror House" together to create a 70 minute slasher film in hopes of finding a distributor for it, the title: "The Horror House Cult Murders".
I am filming another short in June, a black and white zombie film for a local tv show. After that, I plan on filming my first feature length film, a docudrama about the "Skunkape".
I have to say I am happy I just found this site, a place for other low budget horror filmmakers like myself. I hope I get to know you all soon...
