My review:
It starts off with a boy dreaming that he killed his sister, much like Michael did in the intro to the original Halloween intro. Why? Well the end kind of explains it with an unexpected twist, that persoanly, I thought the movie could have ended GREAT if they had just stopped it right before the twist.
After that is the longest, most boring stalk sequance ever. Straight almost 10 minutes of nothing but us seeing through Michael's POV as he stalks the boy from the intro. That's it. No talking, no nothing. Michael is just stalking the boy while he walks down a street. 10 minutes of that. BORING. I can see a couple minutes, but not 10.
The sound quality is VERY bad in some scenes, making it really hard to pick out what the characters are saying.
However, there are some good things.
The main one being, this appears t ignor ALL the sequals. Michael is at large (From the ending of the original), and is stalking a random family without a reason being given. I really enjoyed that, because it really captured the essance of the very first Halloween. An escape mental pataint just randomly stalking people, following them home, and then killing them and their family. As a great character in Scream once said 'Its scarier when there's no motive'.
The opening title scene is very well done too. Its the original title scene, with the orange font letters on black screen, while zooming in on a Halloween pumpkin with the original Halloween theme playing. God I missed that opening title sequance, and its back!
Most of the actors do good with what they're given. So good that it actualy seems like they arn't acting at all, but more like the camera was just following them around one evening as they went about whatever it is they do. Although the acting in the second half, after they find out Michael is in the house, lowers to 'below average' for a fan film and it gets really, really bad in the acting department.
And the kids are so unrealistic. I mean they see that Michael had killed their mother, they run for a scene, and then turn and try to lure him into a trap, and are fearless about it. Keep in mind these are like, 7 or 8 year old kids.
Michael's kills are very similer to the esence of his kills in the first movie, which is good. Gone is the 'Jason-like' kills and here again are Michael's kills! Also his mask is the closest to the one in the first couple movies that I've seen so far, and the actor that plays Michael is also very good at it.
There are also some truly suspensful moments in the second half.
The filmmakers use music from the original Halloween, in all the right places, which is always a plus in my books, cause I hate it when fan films use music in the wrong places, or the wrong music in the wrong places.
I have mixed feelings on this. There is just as much that I like about it, as I don't like. The first half is very 'Blah', but the second half is decent. I've diffinitly seen better fan films, but I've diffinitly seen worse. I guess for now, I'll give it a 50-50 rating with a 2.5/5 or as some people prefer, a 5/10.
