This question is to the filmmakers. I was curious to know what your ultimate goal as a filmmaker is. Is it to become a well known and wealthy director like Spielberg, G. Lucas, Raimi, Craven, Hooper, etc. Or is it just to get your movies made the way you want them to be with complete control and without having to answer to some studio head.

Nzo, to be honest. Both dude. I dream (sounds a little corny I know) of being the well known writer, director, and composer and have complete total control the films.

I would like to say that i want to make films that i have complete creative control over, but in order to do that i would need several clones of myself. Even if you do make films independently you still don't have 100% control over anything, faith trust and compassion are necessary. In my eyes i don't really care if i make big money like those guys, but if i do it will only really go back into the production of more films.

Hear is my main goal for now- Make good story based movies that people can really enjoy. We have to many "story-less" movies out there that are all full of CG and explotions. I don't care if I make money at it or not. It's an art form, not a buiness. I mean I'm not getting paid now and my will is as strong as ever.
Just my 2 "dead" cents....;D

My goal is to have FUN!!! I think it's exciting getting a group of people together and making something happen. I know I'll never be another Sam Raimi but who cares... Once you start worrying about stuff like that the fun turns to stress. I'm just sick of sitting around being married with children. Their is so much more to life if you know what I'm saying... Jason

Jason, I agree with you 100 precent. I should have put that in mine. If your not having FUN doing something, DON'T do it! That's my basic view of things, in everything you do, do it in Fun. I love doing this stuff, so you can't leave that 3 letter word out.

I'm all "story" oriented. I want to tell good stories in film in an artistic but entertaining way. I'll do whatever it takes, whether through Indie channels or Blockbuster. I just hate the idea of Studio Rules and Corporate Money-Grubbers. If I was able to make a good film, though, I'd even go that way. I think being titled 'great director' would be nice, but then there's expectations to live up to. That's fine and I'd live with it, but it'd be nice not to worry about that.

My goal is to create a fun experience for the audience. I used to host movie parties. My friends and I would gather at my parents house, eat snacks, and watch horror flicks. It was a really great time! When I make a movie I think to myself " Is this a movie that would have been fun to watch at one of my movie parties?" For me the best feeling in the world is when I bump into people who have actually seen one of my movies and they got a kick out of it! As long as people are enjoying my movies, my goal as a filmmaker has been reached!

If you made the film you truly wanted to make, You wouldnt need anything else. What else could you do with money but spend your time doing what you truly love?

What I would hope for is to be able to make the movies I want to make the way I want to. Yeah studios come in and tell you what to do, but I want to be able to be respected and trusted. Hard to come by these days, but it's a "dream". I want to be able to give constant out-put of our films and keep the gorehounds happy, and push people's buttons. Yeah, that's my goal- or "dream". Aggh, tough business.

To put together the right team of people.... I'd love to have a core group to collaborate with (and this appears like it could be happening!).
From there I just want to be able to do my own thing without ANY outside interference.
Anyway.... I'd just like to be able to keep active doing films..... Making the films that I want to make.... Being surrounded with the right "team" of friends to help me.... That would be my ultimate goal.

To be brutally honest, I want to become a well known and wealthy director. Sure the dream of having both Wealth and Creative Control is there for me, but push comes to shove, I will settle for the $$$. A guy has got to eat ya know....
