Final Year Project

Hey all I've currently finished writing my final year university piece. It's going to be filmed in JAN - FEB so we are well into pre-production. The 30min short is going to be called "Dead Case" and it's film noir with a horror twist. Does anyone have any advice about really cheap effects for zombies and where can I get corn syrup from? Thanks
