1. Silent Hill 3 2. Resident Evil (PS1) 3. Fatal Frame 4. Resident Evil (GC) 5. Clock Tower
Can't wait for that Fatal Frame movie! The Ring video game, unfortunately, can eat the fat one.

I think the best were always the old Infocom text adventures - the precursors to today's adventure games. Remember Zork, The Lurking Horror, or Wishbringer? Simple, well-written text allowed the readers' imagination to create landscapes and atmospheres far more intense than any pixel image. www.csd.uwo.ca/Infocom/lurking.html

My favorite will always be the granddaddy of them all ... The Collosal Cave. I used to play it early in the morning at NSA on a PDP11/70 mainframe system. I actually found my way out of the maze on a couple of occassions. LOL And who would have thought to beat the dragon all you had to do was punch him? God, I must have spent close to a thousand hours on that game in my last six months in the Air Force. Once I even found spare batteries for the flashlight ... now where did I put them?

Oh my goodness... I just learned that "Silent Hill" will be made into a movie, directed by the guy who wrote and directed "Brotherhood of the Wolf." I was very surprised by my initial reaction, which was intense fear and fat sadness. I really hope this guy doesn't blow it . More info here: www.upcominghorrormovies.com/Fact is, just watch the film that inspired the "Silent Hill" series, "Jacob's Ladder," says series creator and producer Akira Yamaoka. Oh! And there in talks toward making Jason vs. Freddy vs. Ash. You can surf the net for info on this one -- it's everywhere.

The best horror video game, in my opinion, is undoubtedly "Resident Evil 2" on the Nintendo 64, a crap-in-your-pants, spook-tacular update of the original PlayStation classic. What isn't there to love? Gorgeous graphics, nerve-tingling sound effects and amazingly frightening music, a great plot, and enough plot twists and suprising moments to keep you up at night for quite a while... For anyone who doesn't believe me, procure yourself of a copy and play it alone in the dark until the wee hours of the morning, like my brother and I did years ago...It beats many of those corny horror pics.
