Resident Evil Parody Film

My cousins and I are currently in pre-production on our parody of the Resident Evil series. We are trying to come up with a title for the film. The best we have come up with so far is "Hysterical Evil". Some of the things we came up with were "Flatulent Evil" and "Impotent Evil".

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good name for this parody. We want a name that will make the film instantly recognisable as a parody of the Resident Evil games.

Any suggestions would be most welcome

Thank you for the suggestions, they are most welcome. In the time of posting this thread and posting this reply we had decided on the title for the film.

It's going to be called "Hesitant Evil" the title "Hysterical Evil" came out second best. Because we did a bit of "Marketing" and found out that most people liked "Hesitant Evil"

We are aiming for a film around the 1 hour mark. This will be my first "long" film as the other two have been short films. At the moment we have no plans for releasing this on the internet, but that doesn't mean we won't be.

It will take a while for this to be made because we want it to be done just right. Here is a short synopsis of the film:

"Chris, a fanatical Resident Evil player, Leon, an everyday guy and Brad their braindead cohort, find themselves in the midst of a zombie invasion and are also targets of a bio-genetic experiment codenamed: Nemesis."

This movie will be really tough to pull off because we will be having Nemesis in the film. The movie is set at a house so it will be similar to Night of the Living Dead in that respect, but the main idea behind this parody is to make fun of some of the annoying things about the Resident Evil games, such as the fixed camera, the need for ridiculous items to open doors, the inability to jump and many others.

I am going to be writing the script today to see what we get. We have already devised a lot of scenes to incorporate into the script.

Hey Guys

At the moment I have written 50% of the script. We have done a revision on what we had so far and we have made the first half flow better.

We are putting the Nemesis on hold as we are not sure whether we will be able to create his distinctive look. Our fear is that we would make him unrecognisable as Nemesis. At the moment I am writing the rest of the script without the Nemesis. Our other option is to have a Tyrant instead because we feel we would have a little creative freedom in its appearance.

We are still unsure of our casting on these characters because my cousins and I are having a hard time figuring out which one of us will play whom. As it stands I will be playing as Chris, the Resident Evil fanatic.

We will also be poking fun at many other films in the horror genre as well as the resident evil games.

Our aim is to make the best film we have made so far. Technically and acting-wise our previous short films have been poor.

Our first was Return of the Evil Dead which we filmed basically the same day we thought of the concept. We had the Evil Dead Book of the Dead DVD as the book and we went from there. It was a simple film and Return to the Woods is far superior.

The second was a slasher film using an original character. The title was hard to come up with but we went with the ordinary sounding "The Gardener". This film marked an improvement over the last film, mainly in its running length and in the blood effects department. However acting wise, lighting wise and pretty much camera wise it was a poor effort.

We have learned from these past experiences and will be using what we have learned to make "Hesitant Evil" the best we have made so far.

Once we get the script done we will be spending time on a shot list, effects list, filming schedule and planning any other things we need. We also want to take more time in the actual filming and with our acting and the projection of our dialogue.

It's been a while on the progress with our parody but we have finished our fifth draft of the script and I am awaiting approval from my cousins of whether we will go with this draft. It comes to 51 pages and if we need to we will try to write some more so we reach our intended running time of one hour for this film.

Once we have locked into the script we will then sort out how we will acheive effects and whatnot and take our time with making sure we know what to do and how to do it.

My cousin took a look at our fifth draft and he made some revisions in some of the dialogue and added more flavour to our ending.

I'm very excited about the script we have. My two cousins are excited about it. We all agree on the draft we have.

The next step is to finalise who will be playing which character. But until we can get together to do some "auditions" I'll be getting a start on a shot list and storyboard to get an idea of how we want the film to look.

We're not sure of a start date yet, but we'll worry about that when we have the shot list and storyboards finalised.

I have some good and bad news about Hesitant Evil.

The bad news is that we are putting this on the backburner (on hold). The good news is that since we are putting it on the backburner, it will be a better film because of it.

We've decided to wait until the time is absolutely right to make it. For us to make this film on the budget and the equipment we currently have - we would have to drastically cut most of our ideas. Which we don't want to do.

So what we're going to do now is come up with a different idea. One that we can make which will give us more experience, which will make Hesitant Evil even better when we bring it back from the dead.

So until then we'll keep ourselves busy trying to come up with another idea.
