Following in the footsteps of Canada's Scream TV, CEO Nick Psaltos recently announced plans for a new 24-hour digital cable network devoted entirely to horror. Psaltos put together a team of advisors that include George Romero, Wes Craven, John Carpenter, Eli Roth, Lucky McKee and Rob Zombie, among others. However, even with these horror giants on board, Psaltos has only raised $750,000 of the needed $3 mil. With a projected starting date of October 2004, time is of the essence. You can help by encouraging local cable operators to pick up the horror channel. Just sign the petition at www.horrorchannel.com. Spread the word!

Looks like a good idea. If there is a sci fi channel why not a horror channel. And looking at the site the channel will cover everything from classics films to independents, and up-and-comers.

Yeah this is great news for horror fans. This is long over due and I hope they can raise the funds.

I read about it in Fangoria I hope it flowers. Maybe they'll show "Zombie," where a zombie wrestles with a shark. raym

Although the above link no longer works (Spooky, no?), as far as I can tell the channel is still in the works. DigitalSpy just reported that new-comer, ex-model, 22-year old, Jade Fox (where did she model, I wonder...) will be the "star-presenter" for the network. Although D-Spy said the channel begins airing on May 3rd on Sky, all other sources list the start date as October '04.
Other news: Cult-horror writer Jonathan Sothcott was named Head of Programming. Having worked primarily as a genre-historian after the release of his first book, The Cult Films of Christopher Lee, Sothcott contributed to many DVD releases as well as published articles in Fangoria and The Dark Side. His next book, titled, All You Need Is Blood, consisting of interviews with horror film directors, is scheduled for release in 2004. He has been described in Print magazine as, "Britain's leading cult writer." Whether he can excel as a programmer remains to be seen...
