it is good but jumps to fast when she is drowned. it should be there for a longer time cause that would not kill her the amount of time you showed it as it is pretty good.

Yeah, I know. She actually gets stabbed, but we havent shot that yet. This is just a rough cut.

what are you editing with? especially for the news scene? Looks like a Windows Movie Maker video effect. If you're running XP check it out, it comes standard.

Okay, a couple of notes and some of these might sound harsh but they are meant only to help you improve.
I would recommend reshooting this piece. I think it's very nicely set up, you've got good light and timing but it undermined by a couple of elements. First and foremost, turn off the autofocus. It's highly distracting to have the focus suddenly wrack in and out. It throws the viewer out the film. The shots in which the killer rises up behind the actress looks a little silly. What came to mind was a looney tunes cartoon, which is not what you had in mind I would think. The close up of the actress' face might work better because then all you see if a dark shape behind her. Finally, and this is more of a personal nitpick, hide the fact that your actress is wearing a swimsuit. It just seems silly that someone would be wearing that when they're in the privacy of their own home. With creative camera angles and shot choses you could easily hide the fact that she's wearing it.
Hope this has been helpful to you. I like the use of christ candles, it gave an eerie undertone to the shot. And the repeated shots of the violently bubbling hot tub was quite effective as well. It's the first time I've seen one seem menacing.

This might seem like I'm being a a****** but I'm a paid Avid editor and cameraman. Buy some lights, buy a tri-pod, save up and buy a camera that actually has a lens on it.

It's pretty good (actings good, pacings good) but that auto-focus is really annoying - it makes it look like somebody's home video. And the contract between the candle light against the black night is looks like it might be a biit too much for your camera (though this might be the autofocuses fault).
Hot tubs aren't very popular here in Scotland so I'm not an expert here but if it is usual for people go into them naked, then you might want to fake the actress being nude (with an Ultima bra - strapless, backless but could pass for a top at the front - and bikini bottoms or something).
