We've decided to go the Sam Raimi way and shrink down Seth's Basement to about 30 minutes, changing the story a little bit and basically making it a gore film. Below is the plot.
One day Jim gets a package for his dad who is in Africa on an archeological dig, but what's in the package will change his life forever. It is a zombie named Max, in the last stages of becoming like a normal person again. This test, seeing how he behaves in a domestic environment, and it's Jim's job to help him. But when his friends come over for a night of drinks, it is proven that the dead weren't meant to be domesticated, and a night of carnage ensues.
I have a tendency to write beyond what I can handle for a small movie, but with this one I'm keeping it down to what I can handle. Five characters including Max, one location, all out gorefest. Thoughts?

We've just cast one male and one female for Domesticating Max, and are looking for a mid to late July start for filming. Casting is still underway for three more actors, I'll keep you posted.

Today we did some effects testing with the blood spraying devices we rigged up, some awesome gory effects came out of it. We are in talks with another actor, and if he's onboard that means we have just one more actor to find. Filming is set to begin July 30, and continue on for a max of 3 weekends DAY AND NIGHT. Things are looking good.

This movie sounds like it could kick some butt. It's a used idea with an original plot to it, sounds good... most zombie movies now a days are stupid, but this one sounds awesome. Can't wait to see the final result.
How'd it go with actor wanting to play Ryan?

Thanks everyone! Again Bare Nerve, sorry for that endless onslought of scripts CTF, I am going to get a response from that actor today sometime, so hopefully it's a response we all want to hear. If he's onboard, I'll spend the rest of the week doing some more SFX testing, and will begin filming July 30!

Sweet! I can't wait to find out if he's going to be in the movie or not.
Just a question though:
How are the Zombie effects gonna look?
I was just wondering because I like the effects where the zombies look human! I mean, yeah, okay a couple of green spots and black eyes and maybe some ripped clothes, but other than that I think they should look human.
In MY Opinion, I think that would add more suspense.
Make sure to post how it went with the actor!

Casting is complete! Just got off the phone with the actor for the role of Ryan, and he's in! That means it's official, shooting will begin July 30, and continue July 31. We will then know everyone's schedule so we can schedule the final shooting date.
As for the zombie makeup, the main zombie, Max, will be pretty decayed and gross looking. Can't say much more though, you'll just have to see it for yourself...

We're going more for gross out fun and slapstick comedy than creepiness, but there are some horror elements here too. It'll be fun for the whole family!
